Treatment of different kind of Stainless Steel

316

Stainless steel 316 is an alloy of mainly iron, chromium (min. 16%), nickel and carbon. Stainless steel 316 is highly corrosion and temperature resistant (approx. 400 ° C), which makes it possible to clean stainless steel 316 installations with steam or chemical means.

Duplex

In the past, chemical tankers often used Type 304L stainless steel, but today the quality is stainless steel with 2.0-3.5% molybdenum as standard. Variants on type 316 austenitic stainless steel are sometimes prescribed, but duplex stainless steel grade Wst 1.4462 Duplex is now the most commonly used tank material. This quality is popular because it is stronger and more corrosion resistant than type 316 stainless steel.

Super Duplex

Super Duplex stainless like Duplex, is a mixed microstructure of austenite and ferrite (50/50) which has improved strength over ferritic and austenitic steel grades. The main difference is that Super duplex has a higher Molybdenum and Chromium content which gives the material greater corrosion resistance.
